Car Insurance Suzuki (Car Insurance). Should I gas up in Canada or US?Should I gas up in Canada or US? I'm currently from Canada and the cheapest place for me to gas up is $1.27 a litre...but other places it's like $1.30-40 it's getting expensive...in 2 days the gas went up.....i am not familiar with the US prices but it's something like $3.89 to $4.03 a gallon where i can go....is that good? which is better for me I drive a 1999 Ford escort 4 door...I am stuck with deciding if i should stick to Canada or just go to US...When i am on the line before empty in Canada it cost me $33 dollars to fill up but that was when the gas was $1.25 now i am not sure...Which would be better to gas up in for me Canada or US? def Canada, USA gas prices are horrible. US gasoline prices are fluctuating daily. CALIF. has seen $4.50 per gallon in the past week for regular 87 octane. That includes a price rise of 11 cents per gallon in April 2011. Regular 87 octane is much cheaper in Texas. Problems in and around Saudi and Iraq will be causing more price increases. Surprizingly, the sale of Hybrid cars continues pretty steadily. Some of the best Hybrids are claiming 42 MPG, but that depends a great deal on which power source (city-electric or highway-gasoline) is used for weekly chores. You would probably be better off paying for Canadian petrol instead of driving more miles to buy U.S. more expensive gas. Unless you have a Hybrid to drive around town. Suzuki . How Do I Get Rid of Smog Equipment on a 1970 Chevelle?Though many classic cars of the muscle car era featured some of the most powerful engines to come out of Detroit, many of those engines were choked off and stifled by suffocating equipment designed to mitigate smog-producing pollutants. The fact that this equipment did very little at the time to curb airborne pollutants makes the whole thing hard to bear for many muscle car enthusiasts. Removing the smog equipment that robs horsepower and stifles performance is an easy task that can be accomplished in a weekend. Difficulty:Easy Instructions Things You'll Need 1/2-inch and 5/8-inch sockets with ratchet Exhaust headers AFB Carter-style carburetor, 650 to 700 CFM Aluminum intake manifold EGR valve bypass fitting Chevy crankshaft pulley without smog pump ring Valve cover breatherRemoving Smog Equipment Step by Step : 1 Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the front EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) port, the carburetor and the EGR fitting on the exhaust manifolds. If you are not planning to upgrade your intake manifold, plug off the EGR port with a solid fitting. 2 Remove the stock exhaust manifolds that feature the EGR fittings. Scrape off the remnants of the exhaust manifold gaskets that remain on the engine block. 3 Loosen all accessories and remove all belts that are driven by the crankshaft pulley on the engine. 4 Unbolt and remove the smog pump. Remove the main crankshaft pulley, as it will need to be replaced with a pulley that does not have a smog pump ring on it. Installing New Parts Step by Step : 1 Install the replacement pulley to the crankshaft. Replace all belts and tighten all accessories. 2 Install new exhaust headers and gaskets. Tighten them with a torque wrench to 25 foot-pounds. 3 Install an aluminum intake manifold and AFB carburetor for best results. If you wish to keep the engine stock, simply cap off all vacuum hoses, except for the one that operates the vacuum secondary on the existing quadrajet carburetor. 4 Place the valve cover breather cap in place of the EGR breather cap. Tips & Warnings For best results, use an aluminum intake manifold and carburetor for increased engine aspiration. In a pinch, the stock exhaust manifolds can still be used, if you cap off each EGR port on them with brass screw-in plugs. Always disconnect the battery before performing any engine work. Suzuki . How to Troubleshoot the Ignition System in a 1994 Nissan QuestThe 1994 Nissan Quest mini van featured a 3.0 liter six-cylinder engine. The ignition timing device controls when the spark occurs in the vehicle's internal combustion engine. Troubleshooting involves increasing or decreasing the timing of your engine. You should routinely troubleshoot your Quest as a part of its maintenance needs, and if you have basic mechanic skills, you can do it yourself. Nissan recommends setting the ignition timing to 15 degrees, but you can set it to wherever you feel is best. Be careful not to adjust the timing too far off 15 degrees or you will risk damaging your car and engine. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Wheel chocks Timing light Tachometer WrenchCheck the Ignition Timing Step by Step : 1 Park the vehicle in a location away from traffic and start the engine. Turn all car accessories off, including the radio and air conditioning/heat. 2 Chock all of the wheels. Put the transmission in drive and engage the emergency brake. Allow the engine to reach an idle speed of about 750 rpm. 3 Connect the timing light and/or tachometer to vehicle's battery, Number 1 spark plug and the main crank pulley. 4 Check where the timing mark on the pulley falls to see what the ignition timing currently is. 15 degrees is the factory recommendation. 5 Loosen the distributor lock-down bolt with your wrench. The lock-down bolt should be located near or next to the base of the distributor housing. 6 Disconnect and plug the distributor vacuum hose into the distributor housing. 7 Rotate the distributor with your hand until you achieve whatever ignition timing you want. 8 Tighten the distributor lock-down bolt with your wrench once you have set the ignition to your desired timing. Unplug and connect the distributor vacuum hose. Remove the timing light and/or tachometer. *The car won't start on rainy days. Check inside the distributor cap for dampness (see "Servicing Your Distributor" in Chapter 12). If you find moisture, get some mechanic's solvent from your friendly service station — they use it to clean car parts — or buy an aerosol can of it at an auto supply store. To evaporate any dampness inside the distributor cap, turn the cap upside down and pour or spray some solvent into it. Swish it around and pour it out. Then dry the cap as best you can with a clean, lint-free rag and replace the cap. .Chapter 21: What to Do If Your Car Drops Dead or Won't Start A /j 2 Use only clean solvent; even a tiny speck of dirt can foul the points. Gasoline won't do because a spark can ignite gasoline fumes and cause an explosion or a fire. *" The car won't start on cold mornings. For vehicles with carburetors, check the choke. Is it closed? Does it open? See Chapter 13 for details. If you have fuel injection, you'll need to have a professional diagnose the cold-start problems. 963

Jumping, a start If your battery has died, you may be able to use jumper cables to jump a start from some Good Samaritan's car — with one important exception. If either vehicle has an electronic ignition system, the use of jumper cables may damage it. If your vehicle is one that may be damaged in this way, you may find a warning to that effect in the owner's manual or on a decal under the hood. Even if you don't find a warning, it pays to be sure, so call the service department at your dealership and ask about your vehicle's make, model, and year. If you can safely use jumper cables on your vehicle, make sure that the battery on the Good Samaritan's vehicle has at least as much voltage as your own. It doesn't matter whether your car has negative ground and the GS's car has positive ground, or your car has an alternator and the GS's car has a generator, as long as you hook up the cables properly (and the proper way is the same in every case).
